Rickey’s wife Donna was a terrific hostess and not only put up with all of us guys but sent my wife and me home (hotel) with some wonderful homemade stew and brownies. And my hat of Pfizer’s to my wife as well for her patience. Truth is, she loved it. Here’s one pic and I bet Gary got a better one with his really neat camera.

Popular Post Ronn W
On 10/5/2019 at 9:29 PM, RichardA said: Just spent a very enjoyable few hours with @Ronn W when he stopped by on his way to Marc Adams woodworking school in Indiana. A great bowl of chili and some homemade sourdough bread with cupcakes for desert. Lots of great conversation covering all topics but mostly woodworking, thanks for coming by Ronn it was a great time and good to see you again. I am back home now. Dave, thanks for your hospitality and great conversation. It was a delight to see all the pieces in your home that you have made; All top notch craftsmanship. Had a good look at the lamps that you recently posted. More impressive in person than on a computer screen. The finishing class was great but a little overwhelming. My head is swimming with all the information. Mitch exposed us to all kinds of coloring techniques and finishing systems. He told us on the first day to try everything for the first couple of days (We made 16 sample boards) and then zero in on those products and systems that were of particular interest to us for the type of work that we do. About half the class of 16 was very intersted in spraying finishes. I concentrated on shellac applies by hand (including using dye in shellac) and on pore filling including mixing the desired color of pore fill. He actually does a week long class on just lacquer and shellac. Had a great time.

wtnhighlander
I got a short of that curly maple along with my cherry. I've never seen such prominent curl in a rough sawn board! @Spanky cuts some fine timber, too bad he's so far away...

RichardA
Yeah, even down here in Tennessee, I think Fall is only going to be a few hours long. But what can you expect when Summer lasts for 6 months.
Tom King
The opposite of the same thing happened here last Spring. It went directly from cold, to hot. Previously, my favorite seasons have been Fall, and Spring. This go-round, it looks like we don't get to enjoy either.
Popular Post JohnG
I took a picture of my ukulele on the land where the wood came from. Obviously I couldn’t take it next to the actual tree, but this was a nearby walnut tree.

Popular Post wtnhighlander
My folks are moving off their 'farm' to a smaller house, in a neighborhood more convenient to me and to my sister. Moving the last of their things out of the old house, I noticed this decorative 'well house' I built for them, almost 30 years ago. I made the windlass from a red oak branch, using an axe, a hand saw, a chisel and a drill. Square pegs and wedges held the handle to the 'drum'. One of the prospective buyers tried to turn it and the handle finally gave up. Shingle should have been replaced 15 years ago. Even though they built this house after I left the nest, I still have a lot of memories to leave behind.
