Popular Post krtwood
Banner package day. Try not to drool on the keyboard over this spalted maple. And the less exciting stuff: a whole lot of rubber feet and the screws to make sure they don't fall off for cutting boards, some small knobs, double-sided tape, and finish. Not a big fan of glossy water based poly but have to finish some curly maple drawer fronts and the flat on the rest of the piece won't do.

drzaius
Beautiful wood. How's the water borne affect the color?

Chip Sawdust
I was hoping to get some extra long Allen wrenches today but I'd settle for a few feet of spalted maple.....
Robby W
I need to find a place to get spalted maple. I want to use some for some drawer fronts when I build my new tool cabinet. Any ideas?
Coop
@krtwood, the salted maple is not for cutting boards, right?

Fortunately they're in the neighboring state so the shipping isn't bad. 51 minutes ago, Coop said: @krtwood, the salted maple is not for cutting boards, right? Nah, I already made a bunch in hard maple and walnut. But I am tragically going to cut most of the spalted stuff up into little pieces though.

Popular Post treeslayer
Those who know me know I’m pretty frugal when it comes to tools, I have to really need it and going to use it before I lay out any cash but these from Harry Epstein are earning their keep already. The Veritas wheel marking gauge is a joy to use and the 4”, 6” and 12” squares are right on, couldn’t resist making boxes for the 4 and 6, one all butternut and one quarter sawn sycamore and walnut, the butternut one is a gift for my son

Make sure you buy some spare wheels for it though. I know from my experience when I first got mine it rolled off the bench onto the floor and the disc shattered as it is so hard. I have rubber on the floor now so it just bounces. Also it is razor sharp. I cut my finger yesterday on it trying to get the gauge out of its normal storage place in my tool cabinet. Ouch! Nice haul on everything else too. 1
Popular Post JohnG
Not in the mail but I picked up a little chisel plane from Woodcraft since they have them on sale right now.
Popular Post D W C
Just the spray gun, not the power unit, came in the mail today. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to spraying finish having only used a conversion gun and air compressor in the past which- so so results, with a HUGE mess and huge waste of finishing product. So I'm excited to try this out. I brushed in two coats of poly onto a recent project and am going to spray the final coat.
Popular Post Robby W
Got another part of my Father's Day gift from my son today. These little drop shipments are like Christmas over and over again. Veritas from Lee Valley. Seems like it will work ok. Won't win any style points, but will mark lines
wtnhighlander
That longer blade style is great for marking dovetails.
Popular Post Coop
Robby, if you are like me, and maybe I’m more sentimental, but anything a family member (or anyone) gives me as a gift, I acknowledge the gift when I receive it and think of the person that gave it to me when I use it. Even if it is a gift card, I let them know what they gave me, always! Marking knives are cool and very useful.

Everytime I use a tool from others, it triggers the memories associated with it. Every once in a while, I find myself whistling a time my Dad used to whistle. It usually happens when I enjoying myself working in the shop. When I realize it, I usually say: " Hi, Dad"!

Honestly the Makita track is not near as good so I have 2 55" festools, but this will be fantastic for putting straight edges on small slabs that I'm cutting down into dimensional lumber cause most of my stock is 12" or greater. Popular Post Cliff
Just arrived. This is the brushless version of the 150/3 that I already own. I have some nerve damage in my arm so a lighter tool is always welcomed. 4

Popular Post Chip Sawdust
Gosh this page is just pure tool porn. I can't look any more! I haven't bought much lately in woodworking tools but did get this nice chronograph for measuring bullet speed.
